First, a useful distinction
A card, reader and e-ID card are not the same thing
I begin with the intended use, because suitable components depend on the system, card type and workstation process.
- Cryptographic card
Securely stores keys or certificates used in a specific process. - Contact reader
Reads a card inserted into a slot, typically for card-based signatures. - NFC reader
Enables contactless use of documents and cards, including Polish e-ID cards. - Kit
Combines the right elements for a specific system or workflow.

What to establish before choosing equipment
Will a qualified-signature reader handle an e-ID card?
Not always. It depends on the reader, card and intended use. I first establish the specific scenario.
Do I need only a card or a complete CEPiK kit?
It depends on what the workstation already has and the intended workflow. I select missing components or a complete kit.
Is the Źródło application supplied with the kit?
No. I provide the card and reader needed at the workstation; the relevant administration system determines the application and access rules.
Can you select a reader for an existing card?
Yes. Provide the card model, purpose and the computer or system on which it will be used.
Is a reader needed for SimplySign?
Not for the SimplySign cloud signature itself. It may still be needed for other processes at the same workstation.
